India’s weather is extremely varied, something you must take into account when planning your trip.

The major deterrent to visiting India in summer is the oppressive heat and humidity.  In most of India summer is hot. The heat peaks in June with temperatures in the northern plains and the west soaring above 46° C. It begins in April and continues till the beginning of October. Temperatures in north India hit the 45 degree Celsius mark and the rains lash the west coast from Kerala to Goa and Mumbai during June and July, making humidity levels high. Traveling in the plains can be especially taxing after the month of April, because of the searing heat and scorching sun. 

Nainital is a favorite tourist destination during the summer months. Located in the state of Uttarkhand bordering Nepal, the picturesque city is nestled in the foothills of southern Himalayas. At an elevation of 6,837 ft above sea level, the city is home to some 40,000 souls, with a literacy rate of 91%. Temperatures remain between 60 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit even when the central plains are boiling.

Manali is the second most visited tourist destination during the summers. The town also features a plethora of adventure sports including Paragliding, hiking, mountaineering and skiing. It is located 580 km north of Delhi in the state of Himachal Pradesh. The temperatures are comfortably cool. Summers are the best time to be at Manali.
