Bird Watching Destinations In Goa
Rainforests around Chorla Ghats (50 kms from Thivim, North Goa) have been declared as an Important Bird Area by Bird Life International. Some of the sought after species here are Malabar whistling Thrush, Malabar Grey Hornbill, Indian Pitta, Nilgiri Wood Pigeon, Loten’s sunbird, Crimson backed sunbird, White Cheeked Barbet, Nilgiri Flycatcher etc.
 
There are number of bird watching trails here where bird watchers have a chance to sight some of the rare birds such as Paradise flycatcher, Racket-tailed drongo, Ruby-throated yellow bulbul (the Goa state bird), Three-toed kingfisher, Sri Lanka Frogmouth, Wagtails etc. Jungle lodges here are situated right in the heart of the sanctuary offering an exclusive bird watch.
