The temperature of Jabalpur falls below freezing point in winters.

The Mughal emperors, who captured Jabalpurtowards the end of the 16th century, brought Urdu to the city. The Urdu speakers occupy a considerable population of the city. Besides, the British rule in Jabalpurintroduced English to the territory. The British rule fostered the growth of English language in Jabalpur.

Hindi is the official language of India and therefore it occupies a significant position in Jabalpur. Jabalpur falls under the Hindi belt of India.
