The pilgrims destinations located in Kerala are so famous that people come from different parts of India to visit them. Sabrimala has Lord Ayyappa’s temple at a distance of 80 kms from the Pathanamthitta districts head quarters is the National Pilgrim Centre. Malayattoor Church is a Christian pilgrimage centre located at a distance of about 52 km from Kochi near the Periyar River on the hilltop. 

Sabarimala :

Sabrimala has Lord Ayyappa’s temple at a distance of 80 kms from the Pathanamthitta districts head quarters is the National Pilgrim Centre. This shrine of Lord Ayyappa is enclosed by numerous hills like Neelimala and Karimala. Sabrimala is visited by devotees after 41 days of Vritha. Vritha is penance for self imposed devotion. They offer irumudikettu on their head, escalate through the mountains, travel the mountain bare footed as part of devotion, repeating various times the name of ‘Saranam Ayyappa’ which means we dedicate our life to Ayyappa. This is among those temple Kerala which allows everybody in the temple irrespective of any religion.

Malayattoor :

Malayattoor Church is a Christian pilgrimage centre located at a distance of about 52 km from Kochi near the Periyar River on the hilltop. The only way to reach this place for pilgrims is by walking. St.Thomas, the Apostles of Christ has blessed this church which was established in AD 900.

Ochira is a sole pilgrim centre located in the Kollam district is well known for its Philosophy of Advaita. There is no temple or statue for the presiding divine ‘the Parabrahma’. The religious performance ‘Ochirakali’, which is generally held in the month of June, congregate a large crowd.

Agastyakudam place is popular for abundant Ayurvedic herbs. Varkala place is popular for its mineral springs. Sivagiri is a most important pilgrim centre which creates a center of attention for the local tourists as well as abroad travelers.
