Wildlife Sanctuaries in Meghalaya 



The state of Meghalaya has a wide range of different attractions that are worth to watch in India. The subtropical forests eco-region covers the state along with its mountain forests and the lowland tropical forests to the north and south. The forests are prominent for their biodiversity of different mammals, birds, and flora. There are two National Parks and two wildlife sanctuaries in Meghalaya.

There are various national parks and wildlife sanctuaries that are situated within this state. Nobrek and Balpakam are the two National Parks and Nongkyllem and Siju are the two wildlife sanctuaries in Meghalaya. Once you reach at the destination, you will come across to numerous wildlife sanctuaries and national park that are maintained here. They are mainly known as the shelter or home for a large number of animal species. you want to completely experience the wildlife of Meghalaya then make sure to witness the Balpakam National Park and Nokrek National Park.

Dibru-Saikhowa National Park          
The main attractions of Dibru-Saikhowa National Park are the semi- The Dibru-Saikhowa National Park lies in Dibrugarh and Tinsukia District. It is 13 kms from Tinsukia Town, which is 483 kms from Guwahati. It covers an area of about 340 s.q. Kms. Of seven parts in the park one part is wetland and the rest are mainly glass land and dense forest. wild horse (Feral) and the white-Winged wood duck. Other animals are Leopard, Clouded Leopard, Elephant, Sambar, Slow Lories, Asiatic Buffaloes, Capped Langur, Gangetic Dolphin, Indian Wild Dog etc. More than 250 varities of local and migratory birds are also found here.

Orang National Park  
Sixty percent of the sanctuary is grassland. Covering an area of 78.81 sq. kms Orang National Park is a miniature Kaziranga. It is situated in the north bank of river Brahmaputra.  The animals to be seen in this park are the great Indian one-horned Rhinoceros, Elephant, Tiger, Sambar, Barking Deer, Pangolin, Hog Deer, Civet cat, Otters, and Wild Boar etc. Various species of birds including Pelican, Cormorant, Graylag Goose, Large whistling Teal, Great Adjutant stork, King fisher, King vulture have also found this park as their ideal habitat.
