The Rich Folk Culture and Tribal Traditions

Madhya Pradesh tourism permits the visitor to Madhya Pradesh state an eye-opener to the rich folk culture and tribal traditions. This culture finds its expression in the many exuberant and lively festivities conducted by its people. Some of the famous fairs and festivals celebrated here are Lokrang and Khajuraho dance festivals, Tansen Sangeet Samaroh Sharadpurnima Utsav { Bhedaghat} and Pachmarhi Utsav.

A Slice of Ancient Indian History

The Sanchi Stupa was built by the Mauryan Emperor Ashoka, then a governor of Ujjain. Khajuraho in Chhattarpur district is famous for its unique temples. The temples were built by Chandela rulers during the time period of 950 to 1050 AD. Three sites in Madhya Pradesh have been declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.The Khajuraho Group of Monuments (1986), Buddhist Monuments at Sanchi (1989), The Rock Shelters of Bhimbetka (2003).

An Important Pilgrimage Centers of India

The Indian state of Madhya Pradesh has a number of important pilgrimage centers. Ujjain and Omkareshwar have special significance due to shrines having two of the twelve Jyotirlingas.

The Best Wildlife Spotting Opportunities in India

Madhya Pradesh tourism also means wildlife tourism. Bandhavgarh is a small national park set within the Vindhyas and is known for its thriving tiger population. The wildlife of the area is vast. Almost one third land of the state is covered by thick forests and this is the reason this place has numerous wildlife sanctuaries and few of them to be named are National Park of Kanha, Shivpuri and Bandhavgarh etc.

The Natural Diversity of the State

Madhya Pradesh is called the Heart of India because of its location in the centre of the country. The highlands of the mountain ranges of the Vindhyas and Satpuras are the other reason that makes this state distinguishable. Impressive and enormous hills, the snaky rivers flowing throw these hills and the almost endless thick forests gives this place an inimitable reason for tourists to come and feel this place.
